Forgotten Legacy (Singing River Legacy #2) Singing River Sheriff Thayne Blackwood and FBI Profiler Riley Lambert are called to a burning cabin deep off the beaten path The scene of the fire is gruesome A couple is found in their bed burned to ashes What a tragic accident Everyone knows you should never smoke in bed Wait a minute Riley doesn t see this as an accident Her view of the scene indicates to her this is probably a murder scene Thayne, Riley s fiance, has learned to trust Riley s expertise and instincts Also the couple s daughter is missing She is a homeschooled twelve year old so she should have been home A search for Chloe is begun.Forgotten Legacy by Robin Perini is the second book in her Singing River series The first book, Forgotten Secrets was first published in July 2016 It was one of my Top 5 books that year I didn t know if the author was planning to write books about Riley Lambert, Thayne Blackwood and the people of Singing River but I was really hoping she would I am guessing Forgotten Legacy will end up being one of my Top 5 books of 2019.This story has so much going for it a keep you guessing storyline, intriguing plot twists, edge of your seat suspense, jump off the page realistic and very likeable characters, emotional depth and is very well written One of the main characters in both books in addition to FBI Special Agent Riley Lambert s return to Singing River Wyoming was not quite what she d hoped for She s had a lot on her mind since completing her assignment in Washington DC She wanted to speak with her boyfriend Thayne Blackwood, the local sheriff, but Thayne is otherwise occupied with a case The Jordans home burned to the ground and the husband and wife are dead It takes Riley but a few moments to pronounce it a crime scene the Jordans were murdered Thayne knows Riley is the best and he needs her talents as a behaviour analyst to solve this case They still make a great team, but will their romance stand the test of time FORGOTTEN LEGACY is the second installment in the Singing River series, and while it is a continuation of book one, it stands entirely on its own There is a lot going on the arson investigation Thayne s grandmother who is battling Alzheimer s and Thayne s and Riley s romance which is not going smoothly Their relationship issues are very realistic, and I couldn t see how they could make it work It s rare to see the conflict for a couple coming from their career choices, and I really liked that Riley is truly obsessed with her work, and this is one of those rare instances where I wouldn t have minded a little romance, but it was great watching them at work I must admit I found it hard to rate this book, because I found it quite depressing It seems nothing is going right for anyone, Forgotten Secrets Forgotten Lies A Family Legacy A Determined Killer On The Outskirts Of Singing River, Wyoming, A Couple Dies In A Fire That Ravages Their Remote Mountain Home Everyone Believes It S A Tragic Accident Except FBI Profiler Riley Lambert She Isn T Convinced, And Neither Is Her Fianc , Ex Navy SEAL Turned Sheriff Thayne Blackwood When They Discover That The Couple S Daughter Is Missing, Riley S Dark Memories Of Her Own Sister S Kidnapping Ratchet Up The Urgency To Find The Girl Before It S Too Late.Racing Through A Maze Of Deceit And A Buried Past, The Pair Find Themselves Under Attack From An Unknown Assailant Dodging Danger, They Follow A Tangled Web Of Clues Pointing To A Forgotten Secret That Thayne S Alzheimer S Stricken Grandmother Holds Dear But When Their Deadly Investigation Veers Too Close To Home And Brings A Twisted Killer To Riley S And Thayne S Doorsteps, Can They Save Those They Love And Stop The Murderer Before Time Runs Out Book one in this series was one of the first, if not the first, kindle book I ever won from Goodreads giveaways That was three years ago When I saw book two was listed as a Goodreads giveaway, of course I had to enter I was shocked I was lucky to win it Usually when I win a book from Goodreads I don t read it immediately This one, I had to read it just a few days after winning it That says something about what I think of this series It was so nice to be back in Singing River, Wyoming with the Blackwood family after three years Riley Lambert is the type of woman you want to read about She can take care of herself and isn t always needing rescued by men And Thayne, being an ex Navy SEAL has the need to protect her but he also understands she can take care of herself and always trusts her to have his back in dangerous situatio I enjoyed this two book series and will be watching for from this author. Awesome Full review to follow. Forgotten Legacy is Book 2 of the Singing River Legacy series by Robin Perini Even though I m sure a reader could follow along just fine without having read Book 1, I do recommend at least picking it up as it shares a lot of insight into the back story playing out this time around. This is the only 2nd book I have read by this author and I must say I am impressed This story is an edge of your seat, action packed thriller with a dash of I really enjoyed the book and would give it 3.5 stars The details from Forgotten Secrets were a little foggy, since it s been three years since I read it The book pretty much picks up where the last one left off Riley is so frustrating throughout the whole book I wanted to shake her and make her see what is in front of her, instead of running away Riley finally has her sister back in her life and a loving fiance, but still isn t happy I didn t love Riley as much as I did in the first book It s suppose to be a romance, but I didn t always feel the love between Thayne and Riley There were twists and turns I loved the whole mystery behind the killer and couldn t wait to find out the connection he she had to the Jordans When the reason behind the murders was finally revealed, I just didn t buy it The motive felt like a let down, I guess I expected something else Of course there will be a third book, where Thayne and Riley will hunt down all the victims Poor Helen is always put in danger, but she s one strong lady I enjoyed the story, characters and writing style At times I felt like the story got bogged down by Riley s back and forth about staying in Singing River or going back to DC The problem was easily solved, but took so long for her to come to that conclusion I wouldn t mind learning about Cheyenne and Brett s relationship in the n 4.5 Stars In Forgotton Secrets which I highly recommend you read first , Thayne and Riley were in a casual relationship that had the potential to be so much if they took a chance Both were at a crossroads in their life Thayne deciding to leave the SEALs to help his family, his father suffering from heart issues, his grandmother Alzheimer s, and Riley was burnt out from her job with the FBI due to her skills of being able to see inside the bad guy s mind, yet unable to solve the disappearance of her older sister over a decade before.Thayne and Riley came through it at all, as a unit and stronger than ever, but they ve reached another fork in the road and both must decide if this is where they must, and reluctantly so, take different paths, or if they can find a way to walk the same one together.Thayne has taken over as sheriff from his dad of his hometown, and though he doesn t regret the decision he made to return and help his family, he can admit to himself that he misses being a SEAL and wonders what his former teammates are doing When Riley is given the chan 3,5 stars rounded up to 4I ve finished this one some time ago, but I wasn t in the right mood to write a review I loved the book, but I felt a little detached from the story I think in my eager to read it as soon as possible I made a miskate by reading it in the summer It s a somber book, settled in the mountains..it was probably a appropriate autumn read at least for me Anyway the story was ok, the characters were good at least they were because I also read book 1 in the Singing River serie, I can t say how I would have perceived them by reading that book only As I said it s the second installment in a serie and I would read them in order You will lose most of the personal stories by reading the books in the wrong order and it was the part I loved.I ll be reading book three if there is one, and if it comes out before I completely forget the other two, but I
