Thought provoking, amusing, sad A reminder that not everything is as it seems This was a quick easy read for a chilly afternoon I devoured it in one sitting I ll admit a bias, the author grew up in the community where I ve lived for the past 25 years and the book is based around her experiences But what I thought would be a typical coming of age novel, has lingered with me and challenged the usual ideas of what leadership and success are I guess that the book is targeted towards teenage girls, but it will appeal to anyone who went to school in the latter half of the twentieth century It will also interest those who are drawn to novels which explore issues of diversity and equality I make the book seem very worthy, and it is because it forces the reader to consider their values But, at the same time it is very easy and interesting to read, following the life of Annie, an anxious, unassuming teenager whose only wish is to blend into the background and remain unnoticed But her very hu My Girlfruend read this and said it was an excellent book once started was hard to put it down Aimed at teenagers but im certainly no teenager and loved it She cannot wait for Annes next book.
