beware what you wish for as sometimesis not what a book needs This sequel was so disappointing It felt so uninspired Plot lines and devices used in the first book that once felt so fresh now felt tired The story lacked the originality of the first because it attempted to repeat or at least model itself in its image the characters never grew or didn t seem to learn anything from the exchanges they shared in book one Where character flaws were cute and quirky in Love Virtually, here they quickly grew tiresome and irritating The whole plot line felt as if the main characters were stuck running inside one of those constantly moving hamster wheels Where Love Virtually was a quick and snappy read, this one just dragged and took me daaaaaaaaaaays to force myself to finish Sadly, for me, this book was a letdown and I wish I had let the story of Emmi and Leo end with Love Virtually one star I don t like sequels Usually What about Alle sieben Wellen, the sequel to Gut gegen Nordwind Is it the exception to the rule I m finding it hard to make my mind up I d love to say yes, yes, yes but there is a slight tendency towards a clear no.As the end of Gut gegen Nordwind was tough but in my opinion absolutely perfect, I started reading the follow up with mixed feelings Before I continue I better let you know what happens in both novels By chance Leo and Emmi started an e mail corresp I better let you know what happens in both novels By chance Leo and Emmi started an e mail correspondence and a virtual relationship Every now and then they considered to meet up but actually feared a disappointment because of their too high expectations Beyond that, there seems to be no chance for a relationship anyway Emmi is happily married and can t imagine to leave her family She feels too much responsability On top of it her husband discovers her secret and interferes allowing Leo to meet his wife once, only to leave her alone afterwards Leo gives in and decides on a clear cut with Emmi and a new start in Boston This is where the second novel sets in Over nine months Emmi corresponds with Leo s system administrator until Leo finally returns from Boston and starts sending distant replies Leo is now in a relationship with Pamela and tries to elude Emmi It takes a lot of mails and some encounters for Leo to discover that he is living a lie and yes this time the reader will partake in a happy end. This was a basic summary which might gave you the false idea that both novels are trivial On the contrary, there is not much of a background story Both novels live on the two main character s voices, on there beautifully written love mails which do without any kitsch They are genuine, honest, witty, inspiring, ironic, reliable and most of all exciting to follow That applies at least to the first novel As you can guess now, unfortunately, I have to say what worked the first time didn t work a second time What fascinated in Gut gegen Nordwind palled on Alle sieben Wellen Emmi s unique writing style, her numerations and analysis of Leo s psyche were still enjoyable to read but not as touching and, of course, not as unique anyI d rather avoid talking about Leo as I m sorry to say that his character even wore out in the second novel His voice was sometimes irritating and lost reliability Altogether the plot seemed construed and interlaced with some obstacles to revive and elongate the correspondence between Emmi and Leo I admit I once couldn t get enough of Emmi and Leo but as sad as I was when I finished Gut gegen Nordwind I was happy to be left with my own imagination of their story So, it appeared to me as if the author with Alle sieben Wellen wanted to satisfy all those readers who couldn t live with an unhappy ending Fair enough, I can see your objection, asking why I read Alle sieben Wellen in the first place It was pure curiosity and the hope to be astonished once.To make it short I wasn t drawn in I wasn t even interested in finding out what future has in store for Emmi and Leo It was too predictable Whereas I devoured Gut gegen Nordwind I felt not much tension while reading its sequel If it wasn t for Emmi I would have most probably left this book unfinished A great sequel to Love Virtually In Love Virtually I didn t manage to like neither Emmi, nor Leo But now they got to closer to me They finally meet and this experience gives sparks to their emails The title is perfect and completely symbolizes the essence of the story A great sequel to Love Virtually In Love Virtually I didn t manage to like neither Emmi, nor Leo But now author would be able to create a book as good as the first one and right now I m not sure if we can actually compare them since they re both so very different.Contra el viento del norte truly is an amazing book, it s cleverly written and the ending is just genius , it makes the book twice as good. And now this second book was just as funny, witty, frustrating, sad and so much in the end, I think book was just as funny, witty, frustrating, sad and so much in the end, I think you actually can t compare them, for me it slike they both make ONE story, the first book was incomplete, the characters didn t have any kind of closure, and Cada siete olas gives that to us.Truly, a roller coaster of emotions Love it Eventhan the previous one Because because it s that muchopen, appealing, everything best And maybe, just maybe, this feels even better because of it Now that I think about it this was written by a man Like, a real male man Well, thank you Mr Glattauer twice for making me believe there are still those Leo kind of guys out there I needed that And, wouldn t mind meeting one of them Or, even better, e mailing with one of them.I enjoyed reading this book Really, truly, immensely enjoyed Wouldn t change a single thing, not even one letter, about it Everything was is just as it should be Perfect of course it was going to end like this Cute, cute, cute A year ago I read a book that was very sad and amazing I could relate to that book a lot Why Because I had virtual friend and we really got close and understood each other on a deeper level However, it wasn t really romantic, it was just different, without strings and objectively easy because that friend could give you another perspective of things from your life because he doesn t know you in person, hence he isn t subjective The book was called Against northern wind or Cute, cute, cute A year ago I read a book that was very sad and amazing I could relate to that book a lot Why Because I had virtual friend and about two people that met each other on Internet accidentally when Emmi tried to cancel newspapers online That s when she got an answer from Leo saying that she has wrong email adress Bingo The story begins In a form of emails It was really great and funny, light and sweet Leo was so good with words, such a depth and wisdom, metaphors sometimes I didn t even know what he meant to say and got you thinking Emmi was sweet but not happy in her life or marriage and then comes Leo.And after a year or maybe two I find out there is a sequel What could Daniel possibly say after that specific ending I was curious so I read the second book What to say It was good and short but I would stay with the first ending Leo, how I like that man He s amazing Nunca Hab Amos Estado Tan Cerca Y Al Mismo Tiempo
