Archangel Michael and fall to Earth They are promised if they find their soul mates and learn to love that they may return Three thousand years later not one of them has found their soul mate and no one believes that promise.Mischka Baran goes to the Club run by Brends Duranov, looking for her cousin Pell who had a fight with her parents and ran off claiming she was going to Bond with an angel Goblins don t do anything for free, they negoiate and offer anything a woman wants as long as she Bonds with them and they can drink from her Soul That was another thing that Michael ripped from them their souls The longer they go without drinking from a soul the thirstier they get and some go mad and need to be locked up in preserves.Whilst there were some character inconsistencies in the h towards the end of the book, overall it was quite well done and there was plenty of hot action And of course there was a rogue angel to overcome so there was plenty of sword action as well I m not saying anyor you won t read it I m going to be brutally honest here because I disliked the book but just could not put it down Its horribly frustrating so I ll start with my first impression Amatuer was the overall choppiness that made it hard to follow dialog or plot Sometimes I didn t know who was sayin what and had to re read things Sometimes it felt as if the characters were being pushed by the author into actions that they might have not done There was also a lot of blunt casual internal thinking short sentenses like Hell Yeah were everywhere Such tricks add real life to the thoughts but it was way too much. And speaking of too much the sex talk descriptions was waaay over the top, but I will admit that it made for a fun read in that aspect Unfortunately those scenes felt a little repetative by the end of the book.I probably will read the second one and hope for a better flow in the book So, Anne, forgive my bluntness but you do have me onboard for the next one By the way, there were a few errors in the book and I would suggest a better editor Fallen Angels They Rule Moscow S Seedy Underworld, Promising Untold Pleasure To The Females Who Dare To Mate Them That Promise which is rare and special, and if one of the Fallen Goblins bonds with one by screwing her in front of witnesses and biting her then they get their wings back They can go back to Heaven if they want, and start to feel the pretty emotions again But I don t know what happens to the Goblin bits Do they stop being Goblins So, we re looking at angels, vampires, shifters, goblins, and incubi All in one horny asshole who wields a sword, hunts down Rogue Fallen when he isn t hanging out at the nightclub and taking advantage of desperate women With all that going on, it s no surprise that the story made almost no sense In maybe three days, Mischka the Repressed falls in love with Brends the Bully, who gets his wings and feelings back just in time to save the day and live happily ever after Except that Heaven may be broken, and the Angels up there might be murderers. Also, Brends natters on and on about being dominant and kinky and too hot to handle, but he wasn t The steamy scenes were full of arching backs and neck kissing and descriptions of lingerie, but not much else I wouldn t necessarily recommend this book, although there were some scenes that I thought were much better than others I wish this book was four different books, and that the central characters weren t so all over the place On a sentence level, I think the book is not outstanding but not distractingly bad either My problems with this one were with the storyline and characters Mischka Baran has come to G2, a well known club frequented by the Fallen She has no desire to bond with the Fallen like so many of the women who have flocked to the club Mischka is searching for information that will lead her to her run away cousin Club owner Brends Duranov has his sights set on Mischka His instincts call to bond with her and he knows from the start it sthan just a sexual need but whatever it is, it will have to wait There is a killer on the loose who is targeting bot Mischka Baran has come to G2, a well known club frequented by the Fallen She has no desire to bond with the Fallen like so many of the women who have flocked to the club Mischka is searching for information that will lead her to her run away cousin Club owner Brends Duranov has his sights set on Mischka His instincts call to bond with her and he knows from the start it sthan just a sexual need but whatever it is, it will have to wait There is a killer on the loose who is targeting both Brends brethren and human females and the killer has sights set on Mischka.Mischka is a good girl She doesn t break the rules and she doesn t bond with the Fallen At times she comes off as being a bit too uptight and has some what of a holier than thou attitude towards the paranormal that started to bug me I respected the fact that she really loves her family and only wants her cousin to be safe but her character didn t become likable until Brends started to get under her skin He brought out the naughty side in her and got her to lower her defenses and we see what a caring and passionate person she really is Brends tries to convince himself it s just lust he feels for Mischka but he knows from the beginning itsthan that He has felt nothing but hate towards the archangel Michael ever since he tossed he and his fellow Dominions out of heaven Brends has spent the last three thousand years feeding his anger and waiting for the day he can have his vengeance Mischka is a surprise to him and he isn t sure of what to do with her or the feelings he has towards her at first As the book progresses they change each other and open their minds and hearts Brends is very much an alpha male you know, tall well built handsome and arrogant and I absolutely loved him.Mischka s cousin Pell felt like the type that did wild things just to be able to brag that she did it I never care for those kinds of characters but she got a littlebearable when the Fallen she bonded with took charge and brought her out of her shallow shell Eilor was a truly vile character that if you were to pass him on the street, he would make your skin crawl Brends sire Zer is a character I d like to learnabout We get brief scenes with him but he came off as the business all the time type and I d like to see if there are other sides to him.Bond With Me is set in the future where everyone knows about the Fallen The Fallen where kicked out of heaven over 3 thousand years ago you ll have to read the book to find out why and they are no longer the angels they once were They have the dark handsome exterior but when they lose control they turn into ferocious Goblins When a Fallen bonds with a human, the human gets to negotiate one favor and in return they become sexual partners and feed their soul and emotions to the Fallen Humans are aware of what s happening but who can resist getting any wish they wanted granted and mind blowing sex I liked the unique take that Anne Marsh did with her Fallen angels They are wonderfully wicked creatures who are capable of seducing the pants off you one minute and scaring you half to death the next. When I read the blurb for Bond With Me I was a little worried that the story would be heavy on smut and lacking on actual story I was pleasantly surprised that there was a story that hooked me in and kept me entertained and yes, a good supply of smutty scenes that left you considering what you might bargain for if a Fallen approached you The history of the Fallen and the reason behind the recent killings of both human females and Fallen interested me and has me hopping this is just the beginning of a series Stephanie G 3.5 Stars A Dark and Edgy ReadThey were set up Since creation, the Dominion served as faithful warrior angels defending the throne, but that loyalty earned them little when the faithful warrior angels defending the throne, but that loyalty earned them little when the archangel Michael accused them of heinous crimes and banished them from the heavens Stripped of their wings and souls, robbed of their emotions, they fell Cursed by Michael s fury, they became Goblins half man, half beast dependent on the souls of humanity for sustenance They were promised a chance at redemption They were promised the hope of soul mates and reemergence into heaven They were promisedeverything. In the three thousand years since, that promise has gone unfulfilled And the Fallen have long since stopped believing in anything they were promised.Brends Duranov had a bone to pick with Michael about that, among other, darker things The Goblin didn t have much faith in getting the opportunity to do so any time soon, though Instead he focused onpressing matters as he stalked through his M City club, his attention diverted from the throng of humans pressing to get in and make their dark deal with a devil they couldn t possibly comprehend With no thought of compassion, he spared their pathetic lives as he hunted the one bright soul who had been staking out his club for the past three nights She is the only one he wanted, and he could ignore the hunger of the beast inside him until he had her right where he wanted her Beneath him and at his mercy.Good girl Mischka Baran wouldn t be in M City s Goblin club G2 if she didn t have a very compelling reason She knows what the Goblins are, is well aware of the danger in their sought after embrace If her cousin wasn t missing, she wouldn t be anywhere near the oppressive weight of throbbing music, desperation, and forbidden hunger that permeated the place But her cousin is missing And Mischka had long ago assumed responsibility for the younger, impetuous girl So she tries to be fearless as she beards these particular lions in their dens. She just hadn t anticipated the visceral force of one particular and obviously very fierce lion.Mischka doesn t trust Brends, but he is the only one who can help her And stumbling over a dead body behind his club as she searches for him just intensifies her need and shortens her timeline The victim is a human woman The murderer obviouslyisn t And this dead girl isn t the first to fall victim to such a creature, either If her cousin is alive, Mischka needs to find her fast If she isn t, she will need Brends to have any hope of retribution Only a Goblin has a chance of stopping one of his own kind. But when the sadistic serial killer terrorizing M City turns his attention towards her, she knows that to survive, she s going to have to do whatever Brends asks her to do No matter how dangerous it is to her souland her heart Decadent and dark, Marsh goes for the hard hit in this intense series debut Though fallen angels have become overly proliferated in paranormal romance and urban fantasy of late, and they re definitely not one of my favorite supernatural creatures, I enjoyed the world and mythos created here There s just enough spin to make fresh and seductively deadly what has quickly become overused and tired. That s not to say I didn t have some problems with the book The futuristic setting was wonderfully gritty and the plot was compelling, but I was perplexed at times by the information provided about what Goblins do to the humans they bond with, their feeding needs, and what results from that feeding That information seemed to contradict itself in several places. At times the reader is told that bonding with a Goblin results in nothing but death or madness for a human, at other times, it seems the bonding is contracted within a certain time limit that would be easily survivable I was never sure if Goblins often bond with humans for short periods so they can feed without risking the Change or if every bonding results in madness or death for the human Those conflicts and the confusion they created made it hard to fully immerse myself in the story as I was reading.I also found the narrative to be jerky and inconsistent in places The frequent shifts in the perspective of the point of view were sometimes difficult to follow It wasn t always clear to me what was going on when and how it all related to the overall plot The character definition was also a little sketchy and seemed a bit contrary, and character emotions seemed to vacillate wildly in very short periods of time Mischka is introduced to the story as a good girl looking out for her cousin, but later her character has suddenly always wanted to be a little bad and feels constrained by expectations Little Miss Perfect becomes a bitGirls Gone Wild The transition didn t quite feel natural or organic to the evolution of her character.More appealing andconsistent was the sheer otherness of Brends and his emotionless ability to manipulate without conscience He was sinfully sexy, but he was also very dark and self interested for a good portion of the book That may not breed a lot of sympathy for him as the male lead, but he was definitely intriguing I enjoyed finding outof his backstory and getting a glimpse of his past.Unfortunately, there s so much going on in the plot and page time given to fleshing out of the world, that neither the primary romance arc between Mischka and Brends or the secondary one with Pell and Dathan were completely satisfying for me The evolution of both seemed just as jerky and lacking in cohesion as parts of the narrative and I wasn t convinced of the depth of emotion portrayed at the end That s not to say that both couples don t have a fantastically edgy and intense sexuality, because woah they so do The sex in this book was hot Full stop Some of the physical scenes definitely pushed the envelope, and I could easily imagine the inherent sexuality of the Goblins taking an even darker, erotic turn in the future. The strength of this book for me lies in the world and the history of the Goblins The reality of their existence is pretty horrific, all things considered, and it does breed a level of sympathy despite their very alien natures I loved the long term plans of the Big Bad and finding out how much of his insidious malignancy has been spread through the heavens and on earth Talk about playing the long game This is one seriously bad Big Bad And his primary weapon was nothing to sneeze at, either.Though the book wasn t perfect for me, and I wasn t totally on board with the main characters journey through the story, or with the verisimilitude of their romance, I got quickly addicted to the Goblins plight and would love to see how this world expands If the execution of the narrative gets a littlestreamlined and isn t quite so contradictory or confusing, this could be a truly excellent, dark fantasy paranormal romance series The potential is definitely there Disclosure An ARC of this book was provided to me by Dorchester Publishing via NetGalley This rating, review, and read this book Brends is the ultimate bad boy and makes no apologies for his nature or behavior In contrast, Mischka is kind and innocent But she is what he unknowingly craves His very aggressive and arrogant personality makes him want to stake a claim on Mischka But Mischka is not so easily cowed by him and I loved it when she was able to get the upper hand on him I enjoyed how Mischka is able to comfort his troubled soul and make himhuman But what I really liked about this book was the secondary storyline about Mischka s cousin Pell and her relationship with another Goblin named Dathan He is extremely charming and persuasive They really seemed to have a history and I could feel the genuine affection they had for each other Strong writing and compelling characters in this sexually charged story make for a surprisingly erotic and exciting read The Goblins with their need for emotion and humanity reminded me a bit of Christine Feehan s Carpathian Dark series heroes I also found the dangerous serial killer and the plot behind the murders very gripping and sinister This was an ambitious and thrilling paranormal which was easy to read The ending was especially explosive I really liked the idea of sexy fallen angels and hope to seefor them soon.Reviewed by Steph from the Bookaholics Romance Book Club A very interesting and sexy take on fallen angels The concept of bonding is they were hiding out as a bonded pair They had a multi year relationship before they bonded so they struck me as abelievable romance I think the strongest part of the book is the mythology of the Fallen, where they came from, who plotted against them and their return to Heaven My only serious complaint and the reason I didn t rate the book higher is I didn t always find the explanation of that mythology very smooth It jumped around a lot and wasn t as coherent as I d like it to be There s quite a bit of explanation in this first book and sometimes it took over the story That being said, I definitely finished the book curious about the next one and immediately looked up the release date so I could add it to my calendar Goblins How sexy are they That seemed to be the only original idea is a problem as well. The majority of my reading list are paranormal romances, and I guess I m just disappointed that there wasn t anything new different introduced in the storyline between the main
